Hi guys.
I started back at the office last Wednesday. I had forgotten how exhausting things like traffic and just being around other people can be. I’m not exactly an introvert, but I do enjoy my alone time. I had also forgotten how much noise people can make just moving around. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not loud in the office, but even the quiet din is weird after having been at home alone for so long. With only my own thoughts and occasionally, my own voice as I tend to talk to myself, it tended to be very quiet. Oh, I guess there was occasionally the movement of the cat too……can’t forget the demon cat.
Only three days back and I was ready for the weekend.
The weekend turned out pretty great. It was a bit too smokey to get out and do any hiking on Saturday morning. We are getting smoke from our own wildfires as well as all the west coast ones. Fun, fun. I went to a new brewery and did a flight, grabbed lunch downtown, and then headed to a different brewery. There was live music from 6pm until Midnight on the outside patio. No cover to get in. My crew made friends with a few guys that were with the opening act by asking them if they would like to share our picnic table with us. And then, once done playing, the band came and hung out too. Fun conversation, a lot of laughing. It was nice. Just what I’d been craving. I know I just contradicted myself, first saying that I like my alone time and then talking about enjoying being in a crowd…what can I say, there is a time and a place and I’m a complicated being.
I managed to ruin all the inner serenity I had racked up over the weekend, but the time I got to work Monday morning. I was almost late to work. We start early due to a deadline and I completely spaced it. So, it was a rush to get there.
We’ll see how the rest of the week goes. Maybe I can regain some of it by spending some time cooking tonight. Wish me luck.
Sunday, it was still too smoky to get out and hike, but I did get up in the mountains and sat and ate lunch surrounded by trees. That was nice too. Peaceful. The wind was blowing a little. The temperature was great. Not as good as hiking, but it was close.
Hope everyone is doing good. Did anybody get out and do anything fun over the weekend? I’d love to hear about it.
