HAPPY NEW YEAR!
How is everyone doing? Finally, finally we are done with 2020. Problem is, none of the stuff we were dealing with in 2020 are any better and some seem to be getting worse. But here’s fingers crossed that it isn’t punch after punch this year.
I am very happy to announce that I made the submission deadline for the January Writers of the Future Contest! And that I am an idiot because I immediately read the story again and started seeing a bunch of things I wanted to change, move around, re-word…Ahhh! Such is the life of a writer. That is what the next round is for. I have no hopes that I will even make it to honorable mention this time round. There are so many submissions every quarter, and so many talented writers out there. And this is only my first time. But, that wasn’t the point for me. Just getting something turned in to be judged was the most important part. I have to start get beaten up a little so I can get over this scaredy cat thing I’ve got going on.
I made an interesting discovery the other day. It is called a Kanban board, which is a project management tool used most often in business settings, but can be designed to fit nearly any type of project(s). The benefit of it is you can track multiple projects and can also limit how many you are working on at a time. It gives you a visual of which stage each project is in at any given moment and helps to identify areas that need more attention (bottlenecks). There are many other advantages to using a system like this, but those are the two big ones. Being the organization weirdo that I am, I have decided to utilize this system for my writing projects. I will leave my explanation at that.
Watch in the future for an article detailing the Kanban board system and pictures of my new system.
I’d be interested in knowing what systems each of you use to keep your writing/other projects organized. Subscribe to send me a message. 😊
I hope everyone is doing fantastic in this first week of 2021.
