I did it! I have officially sent of my first query for a fiction story.
This is huge for me… HUGE! And it feels so fast. A year ago, I ended a twenty-five-year silent act around my writing. In the last 10 months, I started this website/blog. I told my entire family, my friends, and people at work that I’m a writer. I recently got three social media platforms up and running (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn). I entered a world-renowned fiction writing contest, and now I’m querying to publishers. Ah! I’m trying not to freak out.
In celebration, I got myself a new plant for my desk at my day job. Meet, Luna. After the title of my story The Lunar Lounge (see my projects page for a synopsis).
Yes, I name my house plants. And my car. I didn’t intentionally name them, it just kind of happened. I think that’s why the names are so very unoriginal. My English Ivy is Ivy. My Peace Lily is Lily. And my Dodge Journey, is… you guessed it… Journey. Oddly, my Phoenix Palm became Spike (it has spikey leaves). Weird.
I plan on relaxing this weekend and then getting busy with my next project another short story called The Reservoir, which I plan on being my submission to the Spring Writers of the Future contest.
That’s it for now. Gotta go hit the social meeds to spread the word.
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend wherever you are and whatever you are doing.
