Hi guys.

I know you’re probably getting tired of hearing this, but not much is new.

New Steps

I have finished reconciling any continuity issues I found during a read through of the novel. Now I am going through it again and editing a bunch of searchable words. Like ‘just’, ‘very’, and ‘that’… so many thats! 'Just' and 'that' can often simply be deleted. The sentence doesn’t lose anything and often becomes more concise. I have a list of about thirty words I check for over use. Sometimes simply changing a word can make all the difference. It can bring more clarity or more emotion. It can get rid of fluff and dial into the real meaning behind the words. All of these are crucial to great writing.

At the end of the month I am scheduled to start re-writing The Professor’s Apprentice, which I previously submitted to the Writers of the Future Contest. I am re-submitting after revision. I was urged to do so by one of the contest staff. The thinking is, every round it should get better until ultimately it places. The next deadline is September 30th.

The Breakdown

Nothing really noteworthy to talk about book/podcast/YouTube wise this time around. I’ve been re-reading a lot of old stuff I haven’t read in a while. Nothing is spectacular. Entertaining, but not ground breaking. Nothing which stands out as worth talking about. It happens.

Living Life

I had an interview I am still waiting to hear about. Should hear next week either way. The job sounds really interesting and right up my alley. Fingers crossed.

There is an irritating trend going on in my apartment complex… Parking is a nightmare. There are more apartments than there are parking spaces, not to mention taking into account more than one car per apartment. It is getting worse and worse. Basically if you get home between 5 and 6 pm or after 8 pm there is never a spot in the lot, and sometimes, even the road is full. I haven’t been unlucky enough yet to not be able to find somewhere to park, but I have gotten back when there was literally only one spot left on the road, or I had to park in another building’s lot. It’s only a matter of time. The closest street parking is a ten minute walk away assuming I can find a spot there. Don’t get me wrong; walking is good for me, but if it’s dark or really cold or really hot or raining that is going to suck.

As always, thanks for checking out the site and I hope everyone is doing well. If you feel so inclined, check out my social media.
