Hello. Hello. Hello
New Steps
I’m editing my next short story release. I’ve been calling it Desert Heat, but I’m actually going to release it under the name Desert Home. For a description, check out my Projects page under Soon to be released. The tentative plan is to release it by July 1st. It will be ready before then, but it’s more a business budget thing than needing that much time to get it ready. Because I self-publish, I need to watch my upfront costs very closely.
I struggle with a few things. All the admin/backend stuff of the self-publishing game is difficult to pin myself down to work on. I’ve been doing better lately using a little mental trick. I’ve started logging my hours of work with Desk Chair Publishing… this is what I’m calling all that stuff. For right now, it’s not an official business, but hopefully someday once my writing gains some more traction. Historically, I’m good at business stuff, but for some reason I don’t keep up with the business part of my writing. By changing how I think about all that stuff: giving it a name and taking ownership of it, I can hopefully make all that more real and important in my head and therefore make the time to do all of it.
The Breakdown
CasperSight on YouTube
The majority of the videos on this channel are reactions to other channels who post creepy content. Most of it is compilation videos that revolve around paranormal/cryptid/alien stuff, but he also watches other creepy content as well such as ring cam videos and the like. I have a huge interest in all this stuff, so I enjoy watching them and having my mind stretched with the what if’s of it all. As per usual for this subject matter, most of the videos are probably staged, some very obviously so. Like me, Ben is a skeptic who wants to believe and often tries to debunk the videos. He’s a little over the top sometimes in his intros, and sometimes goes off on tangents where he’s just trying something that don’t always go over for me the best. All that said, CasperSight is highly entertaining. His reactions are hilarious. He gets super freaked out, often yelling and jumping and I will forever call shadow apparitions ‘shadow bastards’ because of him.
If you’re looking for a laugh, I highly recommend. He posts fresh content several times a week on CapserSight and its sister YouTube channel CapserVision. He can also be found on Twitch where he streams any scary games he is playing. He has also very recently started a podcast, which I haven’t listened to yet.
Living Life
I have been watching a lot of videos lately from Sarra Cannon’s YouTube channel Heart Breathings. She is a self-published author who has done well for herself in the last ten or so years she has been releasing books. I first found her during NaNoWriMo last year, and I’ve been watching her stuff ever since. Lately, I’ve been interested mostly in her advice videos about self-publishing.
In addition, I’ve been revamping my goal setting and how I plan. She has created a goal planning system that makes a lot of sense to me. I’ve decided to take a stab at it because my current methods are not working, and something has to change if I want to make progress.
I’ve consistently had problems meeting goals and finding good habits to help me get to where I want to be, so I need to try new methods in the hopes of finding one that works for me. So… wish me luck on this one.
As always, thanks for checking out the site, and I hope everyone is doing well. If you feel so inclined, check out my social media.
